San Diego Chargers Football Online
The Chargers joined the American Football League in 1960 as a charter member. The team spent its first year in Los Angeles before making the move to San Diego. Barron Hilton, son of the founder of the Hilton hotel chain, was the first owner of the team.
The team colors are navy, gold, powder blue and white. The Chargers logo is an arc-shaped lightning bolt that has remained relatively unchanged since 1960. The San Diego Chargers are owned by Alex Spanos, who purchased the team in 1984 from Eugene Klein.
Qualcomm Stadium is the home of the San Diego Chargers and it opened in 1967. Qualcomm Stadium currently seats 71,294 fans. The San Diego Chargers are a member of the American Football Conference of the National Football League and compete in the AFC West Division.
The Chargers were AFL Champs in 1963 before the AFL-NFL merger and won the AFC Championship in 1994. In Super Bowl XXIX, the Chargers lost to the San Francisco 49ers 49-26.
