The Minnesota Vikings were founded in 1959 when an ownership group of three Minneapolis businessmen were awarded an AFL franchise. In 1960, the Minneapolis Vikings withdrew its AFL membership when it was awarded a franchise to play in the NFL. The Minnesota Vikings are currently owned by Zigi Wilf, who purchased the Minesota Vikings in 2005 for 600 million dollars. The Metrodome is the home of the Minnesota Vikings and it opened in 1982. The Metrodome currently seats 64,111. The Minnesota Vikings are a member of the National Football Conference of the National Football League and compete in the NFC North Division.
